This 79-acre preserve is located along the Apple River and is undergoing intense land restoration and preservation. It has one of the state’s premier archaeological sites containing significant artifacts from both Woodland and Mississippian Indian cultures, dating back to 1,000 AD. A 1.8 mile hiking trail winds through fields of wildflowers and offers excellent views of the river valley and the animals living there.
